Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed a proclamation Designating the 2025-2026 School year the "New Mexico year of the arts in education".
This historic proclamation celebrates arts education's essential role in nurturing student learning, expression, artistic skills, performance skills, cultural understanding, economic opportunities, engagement, identity, creativity, and well-being. It is also a call to action for schools, museums, and arts organizations statewide to come together, network, highlight, and advance the impact of the arts in the lives of our students and communities.

The New Mexico Art Education Association (NMAEA) is a 501c3 non-profit membership-based organization of volunteers, created by art educators for art educators, from all grade levels, from across our state of New Mexico. Our membership is comprised of visual art, digital art, and design educators Prek-12, in public, charter and private schools as well as higher ed professors, museum educators, and arts administrators.
