The New Mexico Art Education Association (NMAEA) is a 501c3 non-profit organization created by art educators for art educators, from all grade levels, from across our state of New Mexico. Our membership is comprised of visual and digital art teachers, professors, administrators, and museum educators.
NMAEA is an affiliate of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) of over 20,000 members from across the country, since 1972.

Advocates for the arts in NM met this week with some of our congressional leaders' staff to illustrate some of the impact of NEA & NEH funding in our state, as well as ask for their support of:

June 30 - Awards Nomination Deadline for 2025
Please consider nominating a colleague or community member for our Annual Professional Awards. Recognition Ceremony held during conference.
June 13-15 - USSEA Conference
The NAEA Interest Group USSEA is holding their conference in Santa Fe at the Hilton. USSEA is focused on where culture and and art education intersect.
Fee is only $25!
June 7-8 - Master Class in Tucumcari
Mesalands Community College is holding a Master Class for Metals and Printmaking. Iron pour a sand cast tile, learn jewelry making and utilize their beautiful printing press for prolific creation.
June 6-8 - Board Retreat
The NMAEA Leadership will be on retreat planning for next school year, updating programs, creating goals, and refreshing our work.
May 15-17 - LESC Hearings, Belen
FAEA application updates are being considered, to which NMAEA Leadership and other arts education stakeholders, are opposed. FAEA is content-specific funding for grades K-6 , and is model legislation in NM that other states emulate. The removal of application requirements threatens the assurances currently in place for designated use. Opportunities for public comments are available.
